Although small Aubeterre has much to offer including
the astonishing sixth century monolithic church built within a cave
in the hillside and the twelfth century Eglise St. Jacques; a puppet
theatre. You will also find a museum, craft shops, bank, post office,
doctor, dentist, chemist, patisserie, butchers and a newsagent.

There are numerous eating establishments
to cater for all tastes. There is a small Sunday morning market in
the village square.
When it comes to leisure, options are varied. There is a river beach
(freshly laid each year) with a large safe, clean and supervised swimming
area with diving boards, a children's playground, volleyball and 3
all-weather tennis courts; also a bar and snack restaurant. |

Canoes and bicycles are also available for hire,
whilst the beautiful surrounding countryside is ideal for those
who enjoy walking. There is also local angling, a golf course approximately
4km away at Longeveau with other attractive courses at Angouleme
and Perigueux.
10km away is the Lake at La Jemaye set within a beautiful wooded
area with windsurfing, canoeing and swimming facilities. There is
also a children's play area and catering outlets.

Here there is a selection of small shops, supermarkets,
a large open market is held every Friday,
(In the nearby town of Chalais there is market on Mondays), wine
caves, petrol station, garages, bars, restaurants, banks with cash
points, hospital, chemist, boulangerie and a swimming pool.
